Calibration

What is the difference between calibration and calibration with judgement?

What is calibration?

If there is any non-compliance, we will offer solutions including:

Adjustment

Servicing of a measurement system so that it supplies the recommended output corresponding to the given values for the quantities to be measured.

Repair

Servicing to restore the apparatus to the initial state, at least from a functional point of view in terms of a measurement system.

Trescal provides calibration with or without judgement, testing, adjustment and repair services while complying with the quality standards required for that industry.

Tests

Tests enable us to work out a product’s quality and performance, at all stages of its life cycle. Tests are conducted based on standards or regulations.

To see a precise definition of what a calibration is, you can read the official definition provided by the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM) 2008 edition by clicking on this link.

Accredited calibration

Accreditation is a certificate for a skill issued by an independent third party (Cofrac, Enac, UKAS, Belac etc.) to a service provider that performs calibrations. An accredited calibration is sufficient proof of the standard’s traceability.

Trescal has more than 780 accreditations in 28 different domains across more than 150 laboratories and 220 client branches from 25 different countries. That is why it is positioned as THE leading calibration service provider for industry.

Traceable calibration

According to the ISO/IEC GUIDE 99 (VIM), metrological traceability is defined as the “property of a measurement result whereby the result can be related to a reference through a documented unbroken chain of calibrations, each contributing to the measurement uncertainty”.

*Capability held by Trescal.
**Most of the time by a reference laboratory (LNE in France) but we also have this Trescal capability in Denmark.

The client must be sure about the service provider’s competence, from traceability to national standards.

Where can I get devices calibrated?

In order to best meet your needs and to adapt to any challenges you may have, Trescal is happy to calibrate your devices:

In the Trescal laboratory

This is the solution that we personally recommend and that we advise first. In fact, if you can send your device to one of our Trescal laboratories, we can respond faster and more easily to your request since we have more human resources and equipment all in one place at our disposal.

Our goal is to minimise the downtime during which your devices are unavailable to you. We have “shuttle” links between your site and our labs that regularly pick up and drop off instruments in padded cases or specially equipped vans to guarantee that your equipment is transported in optimal, safe conditions.

In most of the countries where Trescal is established, we have very strong territorial networks so we can service your equipment as close to you as possible.

On your operational sites

If your equipment cannot be moved from your production lines, we can send our technicians with specific standards directly to your sites or we can embed a dedicated laboratory.

Our mobile calibration laboratories

If your apparatus cannot be sent easily to our laboratories, we also suggest that you come to one of our mobile calibration laboratories, which have a controlled climate.
